Identity Management
High volume 1:N identification checks and M:N batch processing of multiple enrolments are an important part of any large corporate or national level identity scheme. Not only is this used for subject identification queries from a large database, when many simultaneous requests may be submitted at the same time, but also for de-duplication at the time enrolments are performed, and when merging databases.
Another high-volume area of application is in supporting certain consumer use cases such as the deployment of Logical Access Control in cloud computing and social networking applications where very large numbers of users may be expected to be enrolled into a scheme, and demanding access to systems simultaneously.
The key requirement here is to be able to perform highly accurate and very rapid template matching across large databases of enrolled subjects who will have biographic or other details linked with a biometric identity tag (e.g. encrypted template or pseudo-identity template).
In some cases raw biometric image data may also be stored (in encrypted form) so that in the event of a change of template algorithm, new templates can easily be regenerated following a change of vendor algorithm. This is important so as not to lock systems in to one vendor’s offering.
Smart Sensors offers its partners a range of high performance matching techniques based on its patents on fuzzy database matching (US patent 7,809,747) and fast database matching (US patent publication 20080097992).
